While in Philly

Posted by on Jun 29 2012 | family, travel

We are back from our trip to Philly.  Warren was sick pretty much during all our staying there, poor guy. It seems he had the same thing as I did, only it is taking much longer for him to recover.  Not fun to be sick when traveling, but being at his mum’s place at least he could rest comfortably. The girls, Grandma and I had a good time visiting favorite places like the Please Touch Museum and the Tree House Cafe and new places like the Insectarium. We so wanted to enjoy the outdoors more (and we tried) but sadly it was so hot there last week that it was hard to stand the heat. We also did a lot of swimming in the pool where Perky lives and Marta is almost swimming by herself! This was also a productive trip for me and I managed to finish two pair of socks, one form Marta and one for Lili! It’s nice to be back at home and this is pretty much where we’re going to be for the rest of the Summer.

Beyond catching up

Oh my, that was a long stretch. It has been busy here in the past month with settling in in our new home, the end of school year approaching and Warren being away for a while. But what really knocked me out of the scene was a throat infection followed by a sinus infection that took hold of me for almost three weeks. I’ve never felt so much pain in my eyes and I’m so glad no one else in our family caught this bug. Now I can say I’ve fully recovered and am ready to depart to Philadelphia tomorrow with the family for the week. Today was the last day of school for the girls so this is the official “Hello Summer Holidays!”.  Here are a few highlights of the past month from before, between and after being ill:

Warren and the girls did an amazing job in planting our vegetable garden. I must post a recent picture!

I made not only one, but two baby blankets for two mamas-to-be from Marta's kg class. All other mothers in the kg contributed with squares of fabric that I then pieced together.

The girls and I made fairy cakes with coloured icing for a friend's party

We celebrated Warren's Birthday with a delicious home made blueberry pie!

Enjoyed some amazing hot days with delicious berry ice lollies
