Summer blouse

Posted by on May 20 2010 | crafts, handmade, sewing

I finally finished my blouse this week. I didn’t find a loop turner and didn’t really manage to turn the loop by any other means, so I gave up on that one and made a very thin strap by folding the fabric four times and sewing it close. It doesn’t look as neat but it does the job pretty well. I’m really happy with the overall result and think the blouse looks very nice. I’ve had the fabric I used for nearly five years and was glad to find good project for it. I also loved that it matched very nicely with the contrasting fabric which was given to me by my mum just recently. The pattern I used is called Summer Blouse and is from the book “Weekend Sewing” from Heather Ross. There are other two patterns from this book that I look forward to making for myself: the Yard-Sale Wrap Skirt and the Trapeze Sundress. But first I must concentrate on Warren’s birthday gift!

Mas primeiro eu preciso me concentrar no presente deaniversário do Warren!

  1. I’m catching up on blog reading (the past week or so has been a blur!), and here I find this lovely blouse. It looks great on you. I like the fabrics you chose – they work well together. Congratulations! I’ll patiently wait for the next project.

  4. Your blouse is super and I love the fabric! I have the Weekend Sewing book too, so it’s good to see how the projects work out. I like the look of the wrap around skirt, so I’ll keep an eye on your blog to see if you make it and any ‘issues’ you have with it! I, too, have got the sewing machine out for the summer. I used to make so many things for the kids when they were little but haven’t done any dressmaking for ages. I’ve bought a Burda pattern for a sundress, so watch my blog – I might actually get around to making it!

  6. Oh, your blouse is beautiful. I have plans to make the same blouse in a green floral. You have inspired me to get to work on it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, the smocking with the elastic thread was really quite easy once I wound my bobin tight enough.
